Fuel Prices Fluctuate: How Much Will You Pay Today?

Indian motorists are experiencing a rollercoaster of fuel prices as the new year begins. On January 14, the latest rates were announced, leaving consumers curious about the impact on their wallets. The price of petrol and diesel, essential commodities for daily commuters and businesses, has been a hot topic, with fluctuations affecting millions across the country.

In the national capital, Delhi, petrol prices saw a minor dip, providing some relief to residents. A litre of petrol now costs Rs 95.41, down by 10 paise from the previous day. However, diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs 86.67 per litre. Mumbai, the financial capital, witnessed a similar trend, with petrol prices dropping by 9 paise to Rs 109.98 per litre, while diesel prices held steady at Rs 94.14.

Chennai and Kolkata, two other major metropolitan cities, also saw mixed trends. Chennai residents will now pay Rs 91.21 for a litre of petrol, a decrease of 10 paise, while diesel prices remained at Rs 89.43. In contrast, Kolkata saw a slight increase in petrol prices to Rs 95.34 per litre, while diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs 80.73.

These fluctuations are a result of various factors, including international crude oil prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, and local taxes. The daily price revisions by state-run oil marketing companies keep consumers on their toes, making it essential to stay updated on the latest rates. As the year progresses, the fuel price scenario will undoubtedly remain a topic of interest and concern for Indian consumers and businesses alike.
