Massive Drug Haul at NAIA: P1.125 Billion Seized in 2025

The Philippines' war on drugs has reached a new milestone with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) seizing a staggering P1.125 billion worth of illegal substances in 2025. This significant achievement is a testament to the government's intensified efforts to combat drug smuggling and ensure public safety. The BOC, in collaboration with the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), has demonstrated its commitment to this cause through a series of successful operations.

Among the notable seizures were methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as 'shabu', valued at P778.90 million, and a range of other illicit drugs, including ecstasy, hybrid cannabis, and cocaine, totaling P346.478 million. These substantial figures highlight the scale of the operation and the potential impact on the illegal drug trade. The heightened vigilance at the country's primary international gateway has directly contributed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s national anti-illegal drug initiative.

The BOC's NAIA port collector, Yasmin Mapa, attributes this success to the dedicated team and the strong inter-agency collaboration. "Our personnel's vigilance and the support from partner agencies have been instrumental in intercepting these drug shipments," she said. The recent arrests of three individuals and the seizure of P114 million worth of shabu, misdeclared as malachite stones from Congo, further emphasize the effectiveness of these collaborative efforts.

This massive drug haul sends a powerful message to drug syndicates, demonstrating the government's resolve and the potential consequences of their illicit activities. The BOC's actions are a significant step towards disrupting the supply chain of illegal substances and ensuring a safer environment for the nation.
