Hyderabad's Traffic Overhaul: 60 Days of Diversions

Hyderabad's bustling streets are set for a significant transformation as the city's traffic authorities announce a 60-day plan to divert and manage traffic in the south, starting January 15, 2026. This move is in preparation for the construction of an elevated corridor, a project that promises to revolutionize transportation in the area. The Hyderabad Traffic Police, in a proactive measure, have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory, detailing the upcoming changes and offering alternative routes to ensure a smooth commute for residents.

The construction will primarily affect the road between Saidabad Y Junction and I.S. Sadan Junction, with one side of the stretch from Saidabad Y Junction to Dobhighat being completely closed. This closure is expected to cause significant congestion, prompting the police to advise commuters to avoid the Nalgonda X Road Owaisi Hospital area. The advisory provides a range of diversions catering to different vehicle types, ensuring minimal disruption to daily travel. Four-wheelers, RTC buses, and heavy goods vehicles will have a dedicated route, bypassing the construction site via the DCP South East Zone office and various residential areas.

The traffic police have also provided specific routes for two- and three-wheelers, ensuring these smaller vehicles can navigate the area efficiently. These diversions will guide commuters through various junctions and residential colonies, providing an alternative to the closed road. Additionally, RTC buses and heavy vehicles traveling between specific locations will have a separate route, further streamlining the traffic flow. As the city gears up for this temporary change, the traffic police have urged commuters to stay updated through their official social media channels and have provided a helpline for any travel-related emergencies.
