Delhi Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 1 Crore in SUV Bust

The Delhi Police have successfully disrupted a drug trafficking operation, seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics and arresting two suspects in the process. This significant haul, valued at over Rs 1 crore, was recovered from an SUV in the northwest region of the city. The operation, which took place on Friday, highlights the police's commitment to combating the illegal drug trade and protecting the community from its harmful effects.

The accused, identified as Jaswant Singh (alias Lallu) and Ashok Kumar, both residents of Sultanpuri, were apprehended while transporting the drugs. The police, acting on intelligence, set up a trap near the Naharpur bus stand in Rohini, strategically intercepting the SUV. The subsequent search revealed a cleverly concealed stash of 383 grams of smack and heroin, hidden under the steering wheel. This discovery led to the immediate arrest of the suspects and the seizure of the vehicle.

The police investigation revealed that Singh, a school dropout, had a prior record of drug trafficking, having been arrested in 2021 under the NDPS Act. In contrast, Kumar, who studied up to Class 9, had no known criminal history. The police are now working to identify other members of this drug trafficking network, as indicated by the value and volume of the seized narcotics. This operation is a significant step in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes, which often fuel other illegal activities and pose a serious threat to public safety.
