In a significant step towards enhancing women's safety, the Shakti app has been hailed as a vital tool by Anantapur Women Police Station DSP Mahaboob Basha. This powerful statement was made during an awareness program held at the Government General Hospital, where the DSP emphasized the app's potential to revolutionize emergency response for women and children in distress.
The event, attended by over 400 medical and paramedical students, shed light on the app's functionality and its role in ensuring swift action during crises. DSP Basha explained that the app's SOS feature or a simple call to 100/112 can summon the nearest police team within a critical 10-minute window, offering immediate assistance. This feature, he stressed, is a game-changer in addressing various crimes, including those against women, children, and cyber-related offenses.
The program also focused on educating attendees about the broader spectrum of women's safety. It covered essential topics such as the PCPNDT Act, the importance of distinguishing between good and bad touch, and strategies to combat cyber exploitation. The DSP further encouraged students to memorize emergency helpline numbers, including 100, 112, 1098, 181, 1091, and 1930, each dedicated to addressing specific crises.
Dr. K. L. Subrahmanyam, Superintendent of the Government General Hospital, and his team, including Dr. G. Hemalatha and several staff nurses, actively participated in this initiative, underscoring the importance of community engagement in promoting women's safety. The event concluded with a sense of empowerment, as the Shakti app emerged as a symbol of technological advancement in the ongoing battle for women's security and freedom from various forms of abuse and exploitation.
