In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Guntur district police have taken a firm stance against cannabis-related activities, seizing a substantial 4.2 kg of ganja and arresting 15 individuals, including minors, in a recent operation. This crackdown, led by Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal, sends a clear message to those involved in the illicit drug business.
The raid, conducted on January 20, 2026, at an under-construction site in Madhuranagar, was part of an intensified campaign to eradicate ganja from the district. The police's strategic move led to the capture of seven accused and one minor, who were caught in the act of packaging ganja for sale and personal consumption. The operation's success was further amplified by the subsequent arrest of an additional seven individuals and another minor in Vinakakani village, from whom 35 grams of ganja was confiscated.
The investigation revealed an organized network where the drug was sourced from Rayagada, Odisha, and sold locally at inflated prices. The main supplier, known as Dora, remains at large, but the police are determined to bring him to justice. SP Jindal emphasized the seriousness of their efforts, stating that over the past three months, 47 cases have been registered, 232 individuals arrested, and a substantial 82.5 kg of various narcotic substances, including dry ganja and liquid cannabis, have been taken off the streets.
This operation underscores the police's commitment to tackling drug-related crimes, especially those targeting vulnerable youth and students. With a zero-tolerance policy, the Guntur district police aim to create a safer environment, ensuring that those involved in the drug trade face the full force of the law.
