The Andhra Pradesh government is embarking on a significant spiritual and cultural initiative, allocating a substantial 78.42 crore for the renovation of 57 ancient temples in the SPSR Nellore district. This ambitious project, announced by Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy during his visit to the Sri Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, aims to transform Nellore into a prominent spiritual hub.

Minister Reddy highlighted the government's commitment to preserving the state's rich religious heritage, stating that over 5 crore is spent monthly on the Dhupa Deepa Naivedyam scheme, benefiting more than 5,000 temples. Additionally, the government is providing monthly allowances of 3,000 to support Vedic education. The minister's vision extends beyond temple renovations; he proposed a 100-acre solar power project on the temple's land, a move that could generate an annual income of 1.30 crore while supplying green energy to the city.

The project has already gained momentum, with the Nellore Municipal Corporation tasked with preparing proposals. Furthermore, the state government has sanctioned 8.74 crore for the comprehensive development of the Narasimha Swamy temple, including the reconstruction of various structures and the Annadanam building. With tenders soon to be called, the project is set to provide a substantial boost to the local economy and enhance Nellore's appeal as a spiritual destination.
