In a significant operation, Telangana's dedicated anti-narcotics unit, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, has disrupted a drug trafficking network, leading to three arrests and the seizure of substantial quantities of methamphetamine and ganja. The operation, conducted in coordination with local police and railway authorities, sheds light on the intricate web of drug distribution in the region.
The first case unfolded in Bhagyalatha Colony, Hayathnagar, where EAGLE Force and local police apprehended two Rajasthan natives, Bhansilal and Yogesh Rankavath. These men, a chaat vendor and his helper, were found to be habitual methamphetamine users with ties to an interstate drug peddler, A. Pavan Ode. The authorities recovered 2.6 grams of methamphetamine, valued at around 13,000, from Bhansilal's residence. This operation highlights the local distribution network's reach, as Pavan Ode had supplied the drugs before returning to his hometown.
The second incident involved a woman, Mamata Digal, who was intercepted at Begumpet railway station while transporting a substantial amount of ganja. Mamata, a housemaid from Navi Mumbai, was hired by a Mumbai-based man, Ashok, to transport ganja from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai. The 16.45 kilograms of ganja, worth approximately 8 lakh, were concealed in briefcases, indicating a sophisticated smuggling attempt. This case reveals the inter-state nature of the drug trade, with suppliers and couriers spanning multiple cities.
These arrests and seizures underscore the EAGLE Force's commitment to combating drug trafficking in Telangana. With the accused in custody and investigations ongoing, the authorities aim to dismantle the entire network, including the elusive suppliers. This operation serves as a stark reminder of the persistent challenges in the war against drugs and the need for continued vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement agencies.
