In a disturbing incident, a private school in Hyderabad's Fathenagar has come under scrutiny after a young woman accused its correspondent of sexual harassment during a job interview. This case highlights the vulnerability of job seekers and the potential risks they face in private hiring processes.
The 29-year-old woman from Balanagar, responding to a job advertisement on a mobile app, received a promising message from Vasishta School. She eagerly attended the interview, hoping for a professional opportunity. However, the meeting took a distressing turn when the school correspondent, Naubathulla Venkata Ramana, allegedly made inappropriate advances.
According to the victim's statement, Ramana initially discussed the job duties, offering a monthly salary of Rs 20,000. But the situation escalated when he proposed a personal assistant role, making unwelcome personal remarks. The correspondent then allegedly closed the office door, seeking sexual favours and touching the woman inappropriately. In a brave attempt to gather evidence, she tried to record his remarks, but he forcibly took her mobile phone.
The Sanathnagar police have registered a case under Section 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, taking the woman's complaint seriously. This incident underscores the importance of safe hiring practices and the need for robust mechanisms to protect job seekers from potential abuse. As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to ensure justice and send a clear message that such misconduct will not be tolerated in professional settings.
