In a significant breakthrough for Delhi's south district police, a routine drug bust has revealed a hidden chemical laboratory, a "chemical kitchen" cooking up a dangerous concoction of synthetic drugs. The operation led to the arrest of a Nigerian national, Emmanuel, aged 36, who was allegedly on his way to sell processed heroin, worth over a crore. But this was just the tip of the iceberg.
The police raid on the suspect's unassuming house in the residential area of Devli uncovered a startling scene. Inside, a massive stockpile of raw materials and chemicals was found, totalling 113 kg. This included 16 kg of crystalline material, 16 kg of grey grain-like substances, 51 kg of liquids, and 30 unlabelled glass bottles, all essential components for synthesising high-end psychotropic substances like MDMA and heroin. The sheer volume of these precursors indicated a large-scale operation, far beyond a simple distribution network.
The investigation suggests that Emmanuel was not just a small-time dealer but a key "cook" in a sophisticated Nigerian gang operation. His ability to produce high-quality heroin and MDMA from industrial-grade chemicals marks a worrying shift from traditional smuggling methods to local production. This discovery is a significant development for the Delhi Police, who are now faced with the challenge of tackling an international drug cartel.
With the suspect's arrest and the seizure of the lab, the police are now focused on dismantling the supply chain and tracking down the gang's other members. The investigation, led by Special CP Madhup Tiwari and Joint CP Sanjay Jain, aims to uncover the full extent of this criminal network and its potential impact on the city's drug trade.
