Massive Ganja Haul: Police Chase Leads to Major Drug Bust

In a dramatic midnight pursuit, the Krishna district police seized a massive 171.2 kilograms of ganja, thwarting a significant interstate drug trafficking operation. This bust, which took place on the night of January 23, 2026, highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics in the region.

The operation, led by Superintendent of Police V Vidyasagar Naidu, was prompted by reliable intelligence. The police set up a strategic vehicle checkpoint near Chinnaputtapalli, a location that would soon become the stage for a high-speed chase. As the clock struck 9 pm, a suspicious Eicher van caught the attention of the law enforcement officers. The van's sudden diversion upon noticing the police sparked a pursuit, with the vehicle attempting to escape towards Madhucon Industrial Road.

The police team's swift action led to the interception of the van near Pinnamaneni Hospital. Inside, they uncovered a substantial stash of ganja, meticulously concealed. The haul included 171.2 kg of the illegal substance, along with two mobile phones, which were likely used for coordination. The two occupants, Hanumanthu Durga Prasad, 38, and Syed Mubarak, alias Basheer, 36, were arrested on the spot.

SP Naidu emphasized the destructive nature of drugs, vowing to take strict action against traffickers. He encouraged the public to actively participate in the fight against narcotics by sharing information with the police or the EAGLE team. With the successful operation, the Krishna district police have not only disrupted the immediate drug supply but have also initiated a detailed investigation to unravel the entire ganja network, aiming to bring an end to this illicit trade.
