Krishna District's Ganja Bust: Uncovering a Cross-State Smuggling Ring

In a significant drug interdiction, a joint operation by the Hanuman Junction police and the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) has dealt a substantial blow to the illicit ganja trade. The operation, which took place under the jurisdiction of the Athkur police station, resulted in the seizure of a staggering 171 kilograms of ganja. This substantial quantity of contraband was discovered in a van, meticulously packed into bags, ready for transport.

The accused, Hanumanthu Durga Prasad, from Visakhapatnam district, and Syed Mubarak, alias Basheer, a native of Kolar district in Karnataka, were apprehended during the operation. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidyasagar Naidu, the duo was engaged in a cross-state smuggling operation, transporting the ganja from Anakapalli to Karnataka. This revelation underscores the complexity of the illegal drug network, which spans multiple districts and states.

Led by Gannavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police Ch. Srinivas, the team, including Hanuman Junction CI L. Ramesh and EAGLE Inspector M. Ravi Chandra, demonstrated exceptional vigilance and teamwork. Their efforts not only led to the seizure of the ganja and the vehicle but also to the capture of these key players in the smuggling operation. The SP's statement highlights the ongoing investigation, focusing on tracing the ganja supplier in Anakapalli district and identifying any additional accomplices.

This successful operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in combating drug trafficking. As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits further revelations about the extent of this smuggling network and the measures taken to dismantle it. The case highlights the persistent challenges in the war against drugs and the need for continued vigilance and proactive law enforcement.
