Hyderabad Drug Bust: Uncovering an Underground Network

In a significant operation, the Panjagutta Police, in collaboration with the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), have disrupted a local drug distribution ring, arresting five individuals and seizing a substantial amount of illegal substances. This raid, conducted on Sunday, sheds light on the growing issue of drug trafficking in the city.

The operation, led by Panjagutta Inspector Ramakrishna and his team, was a strategic response to credible intelligence. The police targeted a network of drug peddlers operating within the Panjagutta area. The main suspect, Katangur Mahan Reddy, a 28- striver, was identified as the key player in this illicit trade. Along with Reddy, four sub-peddlers were apprehended, including Mohammed Abdul Nabi, an Amazon employee, Rupani Mukesh Babu, an IT recruiter, Sriram Raviteja, a student, and Bhoopathi Sai Chaitanya, a software professional. This diverse group of individuals highlights the pervasive nature of drug involvement across various professions.

The raid yielded a significant haul, including 10.5 grams of MDMA, 7.5 grams of hydroponic ganja, and five mobile phones, which are often used to facilitate drug deals. ACP P Murali Krishna emphasized the ongoing efforts to locate and apprehend other individuals connected to this drug network, including suppliers, transporters, and consumers. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are conducting further investigations.

As the authorities continue their crackdown, the public, especially the youth, are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. This operation serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of drug trafficking and the need for collective action to eradicate this menace. The police's swift response and ongoing investigations demonstrate their commitment to ensuring a safer Hyderabad.
