Hyderabad's SHE Teams, a dedicated police force, has made significant strides in addressing various forms of harassment against women, as evidenced by their 2025 performance. With a total of 1,149 complaints resolved and 3,826 individuals apprehended, the teams have demonstrated their commitment to women's safety in the city.
The year saw a surge in cyber-related offences, with blackmail taking the lead. A staggering 366 victims sought help from the SHE Teams after facing threats of private photo or video misuse, often by individuals they met on social media or former acquaintances. The digital realm also witnessed 121 instances of midnight harassment through internet calls and 82 cases of fake profiles circulating obscene content. The SHE Teams' expertise in forensic and technical analysis played a crucial role in tracing the perpetrators behind these online crimes.
Beyond cybercrimes, the teams tackled 98 cases of women being exploited under the guise of marriage, offering counselling to victims and initiating legal action against the accused. Proactive measures were also in place, with plainclothes officers conducting surveillance and decoy operations in public spaces, leading to the apprehension of numerous offenders.
Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar emphasized that women's safety is a top priority, and the SHE Teams' efforts reflect this commitment. "Offenders should know that anonymity and technology do not grant impunity," he stated, encouraging women to report harassment without fear. The teams' success in 2025 not only highlights their effectiveness but also serves as a powerful message to potential offenders, ensuring Hyderabad's women can feel safer in both physical and digital spaces.
