In a bizarre incident that has left both law enforcement and locals in Hyderabad's Chandrayangutta area stunned, a young auto-rickshaw driver, Syed Irfan, found himself in hot water after a drunk driving incident took a peculiar turn. The 23-year-old's alcohol-fueled adventure began on the night of January 4th, when a routine traffic stop revealed more than just a simple traffic violation.
Irfan, under the influence of cheap liquor, was pulled over by traffic police at the MBNR crossroads. A breathalyser test confirmed his intoxication, with an alcohol level of 150, well beyond the legal limit. As the officers detained his vehicle, Irfan's anger led to an unusual and ill-advised response. He retrieved a dead snake from his auto-rickshaw and brandished it as a threat, targeting a traffic sub-inspector. This unexpected move caused a stir, leading to a brief escape attempt before law-and-order personnel intervened.
The incident, however, took a more civil turn when Irfan was later arrested at his Pahadishareef residence. In a video that has since circulated on social media, a remorseful Irfan is seen apologising at the Chandrayangutta police station. With folded hands, he admits his wrongdoing, acknowledging that threatening the police with a snake was entirely his fault. He vows to never repeat such behaviour, promising to abstain from drinking and driving. Despite his public apology, the police remain steadfast in their legal proceedings, ensuring that Irfan faces the consequences of his actions.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of drunk driving and the importance of maintaining respect for law enforcement. As Irfan awaits his court appearance, scheduled for Monday, the public eye remains fixed on this unique case, highlighting the unpredictable nature of law enforcement encounters.
