Andhra Pradesh's Communist Party Unites Against Communalism

In a powerful display of unity, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Andhra Pradesh held its 27th conference in Nellore, a district steeped in the state's communist history. The conference, attended by 362 delegates and 101 observers, sent a clear message: to combat the rising tide of communalism and resist government policies that favor corporates at the expense of the people.

The conference, inaugurated by P Madhu, a former CPI(M) state secretary, began with a symbolic hoisting of the Red Flag. This act set the tone for the event, emphasizing the party's commitment to its principles. The gathering focused on various issues, including the displacement of people by the Polavaram project, privatization concerns, and the need to uphold the State Reorganisation Act.

A key resolution adopted by the conference was the call for uniting all Left and secular forces. This unity, they believe, is essential to counter the BJP-RSS combine's communal agenda and the central government's authoritarian rule. MA Baby, a Polit Bureau member, exposed the BJP-RSS's communal hatred and urged the TDP and Janasena parties to reconsider their alliance with the BJP.

The conference also addressed the importance of strengthening the party's independent base and building a Left-democratic alternative. V Srinivasa Rao, the state secretary, presented a comprehensive report detailing the party's efforts and the need for local struggles and leadership. The delegates, representing diverse districts and mass fronts, actively participated in discussions, offering suggestions and corrections to the report.

As the conference concluded, the newly elected state committee pledged to advance mass movements, ensuring the party's decisions resonate across Andhra Pradesh. With a diverse and dedicated leadership, the Communist Party is poised to address the state's challenges and promote a more inclusive and equitable future.
