Drug Bust Unveils Shocking Student Involvement

In a startling revelation, Hyderabad's law enforcement agencies have uncovered a drug network with an unexpected reach into the city's educational institutions. The recent arrest of ganja peddler Arafath Ahmed Khan has led authorities to identify a staggering 100 suspected ganja users, a significant portion of whom are medical students.

The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) and Hyderabad police's collaborative efforts resulted in Arafath's capture in Risala Bazar, where he was found with 2kg of ganja. This led to a trail of revelations, exposing a web of drug distribution and consumption. Among the 100 identified users, 32 are medical students from a private college in Ghanpur, Medchal district. Subsequent tests confirmed that nine of these students had indeed consumed ganja.

The investigation further intensified as authorities traced the ganja's origin to a woman in Irani Colony, Bidar, who has allegedly been involved in the illicit trade since 2010. Her financial records revealed transactions totaling 1.5 crore in the past year, with Arafath contributing 6 lakh. The woman's supply chain extended to peddlers in Parli, Maharashtra, highlighting a sophisticated and well-established network.

This case raises concerns about drug infiltration within educational institutions and the broader community. The involvement of medical students is particularly alarming, given their future roles in healthcare. As the investigation unfolds, authorities aim to dismantle the network and address the underlying issues, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and the public.
