In a bold move to combat the rising tide of cyber fraud, the Hyderabad police have launched a comprehensive cybercrime awareness campaign, "Jaagrut Hyderabad a Surakshit Hyderabad," aiming to educate and empower citizens in the digital realm. With an average daily loss of 1 crore due to cybercrimes in the Hyderabad Commissionerate jurisdiction, the initiative couldn't be more timely.
The campaign's launch event, held at a residential complex in Kavadiguda, introduced a dedicated network of 'cyber ambassadors'a diverse group of volunteers comprising residents, students, and professionals. These ambassadors, armed with digital safety expertise, will engage in door-to-door interactions, workshops, and awareness drives, ensuring that every citizen, from the grassroots level upwards, is equipped with the knowledge to protect themselves online.
The strategy is twofold: to curb the increasing cybercrime rates and to foster a culture of digital responsibility. Awareness materials will be strategically placed in public spaces, including bus stands, railway stations, and educational institutions, to maximize reach. The Hyderabad police are determined to leave no stone unturned in their quest to educate the public, with plans to expand the campaign across the city after the trial phase.
Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy emphasized the societal impact of cybercrime, urging citizens to be vigilant. "Criminals exploit fear and greed, targeting the vulnerable," he warned. As the campaign unfolds, Hyderabad's residents are poised to become a formidable force against cyber threats, marking a significant step towards a safer digital future.
