In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Hyderabad police have arrested Vishal Anil Nirmal, a Pune resident, for his alleged involvement in a massive online betting fraud, duping victims of a staggering Rs. 75 lakh. This arrest shines a light on the dark underbelly of illegal gaming and betting platforms that have been luring unsuspecting individuals with promises of easy money.

The suspect, Nirmal, employed a cunning strategy to ensnare his victims. He allegedly sent WhatsApp messages promoting online betting platforms, offering assured profits. One such victim, a resident of Securandabad, fell prey to this scheme in 2021. Nirmal initially gained the victim's trust by demonstrating fake profits on a website named ANGELBET777, a casino, and cricket betting platform. Starting with a small investment of Rs. 10,000, the victim was reeled in with a quick return. However, this was just the beginning of a sophisticated scam.

Over time, the accused induced the victim to invest substantial amounts, reaching Rs. 10 lakh in 2021 alone. The money was spread across multiple betting platforms, including GOEXCH777 and WORLD777, all operated by Nirmal using agent IDs. The victim's losses totaled Rs. 55 lakhs, a significant financial blow. Nirmal's operation was extensive, using social media advertising, bulk WhatsApp messages, and a network of mule bank accounts to launder the money. His sophisticated use of multiple SIM cards and digital payment methods made detection challenging.

The police investigation revealed that Nirmal's bank accounts were linked to 22 cyber fraud cases across India. The authorities seized various devices and materials, including laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards, debit cards, and even rubber stamps linked to shell companies, indicating a well-organized criminal operation. With Nirmal's arrest, the police are now working to trace other suspects involved in this extensive racket, aiming to dismantle the entire network and bring justice to the victims.
