Chennai and Kolkata, two other major metropolitan cities, experienced contrasting scenarios. Chennai saw a marginal decline in petrol prices by 4 paise, now priced at Rs 101.40 per litre. Diesel, on the other hand, became dearer by 17 paise, retailing at Rs 91.42 per litre. Kolkata residents faced a steeper hike in fuel prices, with petrol and diesel increasing by 30 paise and 18 paise, respectively. As of February 7, petrol and diesel prices in Kolkata stand at Rs 104.68 and Rs 90.92 per litre.

The recent fluctuations in fuel prices can be attributed to various factors, including global crude oil rates and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
