In a significant development for the Nellore Rural constituency, the government has allocated a substantial sum of Rs 236 crores for essential drinking water and drainage infrastructure projects. This announcement, made by Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy during a press conference at his office, promises to address critical needs and improve the lives of residents, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds and migrant populations.
The MLA revealed that the funding would facilitate the construction of drinking water pipelines spanning an impressive 200 kilometers, ensuring a reliable water supply to areas in need. Additionally, water tanks will be established in Parameswari Nagar, YSR Nagar, and Ambapuram, further enhancing water accessibility. This initiative is a welcome step towards addressing the constituency's water challenges, which have been exacerbated by the area's rapid population growth due to migration.
Furthermore, the project includes plans to construct a 51-kilometer-long drainage system, with Rs 111 crores allocated for this purpose. The MLA assured that tenders for these projects have already been finalized, indicating that work will commence shortly. These developments are particularly crucial for the constituency, which has been witnessing a substantial influx of migrants from various parts of the district, placing existing infrastructure under strain.
MLA Kotamreddy expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana for their proactive role in securing this substantial funding. With the previous two years seeing Rs 606 crores sanctioned for development, the MLA emphasized the need for continued investment to accommodate the constituency's growing population and evolving needs. This substantial allocation of resources is a significant step towards addressing these challenges and ensuring a better quality of life for Nellore Rural's residents.
