Madhya Pradesh Drug Bust: Uncovering a Hidden Factory

In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Madhya Pradesh police have uncovered a clandestine MD drug manufacturing operation in Mandsaur district, seizing an astonishing Rs 12 crore worth of narcotics, chemicals, and equipment. This raid, conducted on Saturday evening in Surjana village, has shed light on the hidden world of illicit drug production and the ingenuity of those involved.

The scene at the field in Surjana was a stark contrast to the peaceful rural setting. Officers discovered a makeshift laboratory where two individuals, identified as Deepak Sikligar (32) and Sumit Sikligar (19), were hard at work. Using a simple steel vessel and a machine intended for making buttermilk, they were churning a potent chemical mixture, emitting a strong odor. This makeshift setup, along with various other equipment, was used to produce MD, a dangerous synthetic drug.

The police seized a substantial amount of narcotics and chemicals, including 102 grams of MD, various chemical compounds, and equipment with an estimated international market value of Rs 10-12 crore. This operation highlights the resourcefulness of illegal drug manufacturers who adapt everyday items for their illicit activities. The accused, locals with a history of transporting narcotics, now face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This bust underscores the ongoing battle against the illegal drug trade, where law enforcement must stay vigilant to uncover such hidden operations. As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to determine the extent of this drug network and ensure that those involved are brought to justice.
