In a significant operation, the Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border smuggling ring, arresting five individuals and seizing a substantial cache of weapons, narcotics, and cash. This bust, which took place in Amritsar, has shed light on the intricate network of illegal activities operating along the border.

The police recovered six pistols of various makes, including Austrian Glock and Turkish Zigana models, along with 10 cartridges, 115 grams of heroin, and a substantial sum of Rs 11.90 lakh. The accused, aged between 20 and 24, were identified as Simaranjeet Singh (alias Mannu), Gurpreet Singh (alias Gopi), Sukhraj Singh (alias Joga), Sajan Singh (alias Gursajan Singh/Ladda), and Molakdeep Singh, residents of Amritsar's villages Roda Wala Kalan and Ranike.

The investigation, led by Commissioner of Police Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, revealed that the accused had received arms and drugs via drones from across the border. The police also impounded a Hyundai Creta car used for smuggling. The preliminary probe indicated that the accused were part of a larger cross-border network, with Mannu, Molakdeep Singh, and Gurpreet Singh being repeat offenders with previous drug case involvement.

DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized the ongoing investigation's focus on establishing forward and backward linkages, stating, "We are working to unravel the entire network and its connections." This bust highlights the Punjab Police's commitment to combating cross-border crimes, with the operation serving as a significant step in disrupting illegal activities and ensuring public safety.
