In a significant blow to cross-border criminal activities, the Amritsar commissionerate police have successfully dismantled a sophisticated smuggling network, arresting five individuals and seizing a substantial cache of weapons and narcotics. This operation, led by the Punjab police, has brought to light a well-organized illegal trade with international connections.

The arrests, which took place in the border region, led to the recovery of six high-caliber pistols, including Austrian Glock 9MMs and a Turkish Zigana, along with 115 grams of heroin and a substantial cash amount of 11.90 lakh. The accused, aged between 20 and 24, were identified as Simranjeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sukhraj Singh, Sajan Singh, and Molakdeep Singh, with the first four being residents of Roda Wala Kalan and the latter from Ranike village.

Punjab's DGP, Gaurav Yadav, revealed that the smugglers were part of a larger cross-border syndicate, utilizing drones to transport arms and drugs. This method of delivery highlights the advanced and clandestine nature of their operations.
