Hyderabad Gears Up for Maha Shivaratri: Navigating the Festival Traffic

With over 11,000 vehicles expected to descend upon the Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Temple in Keesaragutta for the Maha Shivaratri celebrations, Hyderabad's Jawaharnagar traffic police are gearing up for a busy week. The temple, nestled in the city's outskirts, is set to host the Brahmotsavam celebrations from February 13 to 18, attracting a massive influx of devotees and vehicles.

To ensure a smooth and congestion-free experience, Malkajgiri Traffic-I DCP Rahul Reddy has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan. "We've identified four strategic diversion points to manage heavy vehicles, ensuring a seamless flow of traffic during the festivities," he stated. This proactive approach aims to improve upon last year's challenges, where heavy vehicles contributed to significant congestion.

The traffic advisory outlines specific routes for vehicles approaching from various directions. Heavy vehicles from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) or Cheryal Crossroads will be redirected, avoiding Keesara village. Instead, they will be guided towards Ghatkesar or Shamirpet via the ORR and service road. This diversion strategy extends to vehicles from Uddemarri, Bommalaramaram, Shamirpet, and Bogaram, each rerouted to alternative routes.

As the celebrations peak on February 15 and 16, the traffic police anticipate a surge in attendance. With parking facilities ranging from 20 to 500 meters from the temple, shuttle services will be provided for the convenience of devotees. This well-planned traffic management system aims to ensure that the Maha Shivaratri celebrations are not only spiritually fulfilling but also logistically smooth for all attendees.
