In a significant blow to drug trafficking in Uttar Pradesh, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has successfully apprehended seven drug traffickers and confiscated narcotics worth a staggering Rs 3 crore in the international market. This large-scale operation, conducted on February 11, is part of the state government's intensified campaign to eradicate the drug menace, as directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The ANTF's coordinated efforts involved multiple units, including the Saharanpur, Bareilly, and Agra Operational Units, who simultaneously targeted various districts. The operation resulted in four separate cases, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. Among the seized contraband were substantial quantities of illegal substances: 7.140 kilograms of opium and 514.745 kilograms of cannabis (ganja).
The ANTF Saharanpur team made a notable arrest near Mau Khas, apprehending three traffickers and recovering 3.140 kilograms of opium, worth Rs 16 lakh, along with cash, mobile phones, and a motorcycle. In another successful operation, ANTF Bareilly arrested a trafficker with 4 kilograms of opium valued at Rs 20 lakh. The Agra Operational Unit also played a crucial role, arresting two traffickers in the Trans-Yamuna area and seizing 24 kilograms of cannabis.
This coordinated crackdown sends a powerful message to drug trafficking networks operating in Uttar Pradesh. The ANTF's success in these operations underscores the effectiveness of the state government's strategy to combat the drug trade. With a substantial haul of narcotics and the arrest of key players, the ANTF has taken a significant step towards achieving the Chief Minister's vision of a drug-free Uttar Pradesh.
