Telangana's Fight Against Drugs: Empowering Students, Securing the Future

In a proactive move to safeguard the youth of Telangana, the Department of School Education has embarked on a comprehensive training initiative to combat drug abuse. With the third and final phase of the Prahari Club training sessions set to take place on February 17 and 18, the state is poised to complete its ambitious drug prevention program.

The residential training, a collaborative effort with the EAGLE Force, has already made its mark in 22 districts, engaging 110 participants in each spell. This includes a diverse group of 10 district representatives, comprising Chief Medical Officers and teachers from three identified schools. The student body is represented by two Prahari Club members from each selected school, ensuring a student-led approach to drug awareness.

The curriculum is both informative and interactive, featuring expert-led sessions on the perils of drug abuse, legal repercussions, and preventive strategies. Recognizing the importance of mental health, a senior psychologist from Tele-MANAS will address adolescent challenges, fostering emotional resilience and providing tools to navigate peer pressure. The program also includes creative outlets like leadership workshops, poster-making, street plays, and puppet shows, encouraging students to become advocates for a drug-free Telangana.

As the initiative nears its completion, officials emphasize the long-term impact of empowering students through Prahari Clubs. This statewide effort aims to create a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills to resist drugs, fostering a safer and healthier future for Telangana's youth. With the final phase approaching, the state is poised to set a precedent for student-led drug prevention, potentially influencing similar initiatives across the country.
