Hyderabad's municipal corporations are taking a proactive approach to addressing citizen concerns, with a new initiative that brings government closer to the people. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), along with the recently established Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MCC), have launched a weekly direct contact programme called Prajavani. This initiative aims to provide a platform for residents to voice their grievances and seek swift resolutions.
During the inaugural Prajavani sessions, the civic bodies received a total of 84 complaints, with GHMC recording 28, CMC 41, and MCC 15. The programme, held at various circle and zonal levels, allows citizens to directly interact with municipal officials, ensuring their voices are heard. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, accompanied by senior officers, personally attended the event at the corporation's headquarters, demonstrating a commitment to citizen engagement. Karnan instructed officials to prioritize the resolution of these complaints, emphasizing the importance of timely action.
The CMC and MCC also echoed this sentiment, with their respective commissioners, G Srujana and T Vinay Krishna Reddy, directing officials to address the issues promptly. Srujana, in particular, assured citizens of her dedication to resolving complaints received through Prajavani, urging officials to act on them as a top priority. The programme's success was evident as various departments, from town planning to sanitation, received specific grievances, ensuring a comprehensive approach to civic issues.
This initiative marks a significant step towards improving public services and governance. By providing a direct channel for communication, the municipal corporations are not only addressing immediate concerns but also fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
