In a shocking revelation, a Hyderabad businessman has fallen victim to an elaborate online betting racket, losing a staggering Rs73 lakh. The 33-year-old resident of AC Guards has filed a complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police, exposing a sophisticated fraud scheme that operated through a web of mirror websites.

The victim's journey began in January 2025 when he was lured into the world of online betting by fraudsters masquerading as tele-callers and customer support staff of a platform named 'aBetInExchange'. He was enticed by the prospect of betting on cricket matches, teen patti, and casino games. With an initial deposit of Rs20,001, he quickly made a profit of Rs5,000, which seemed to validate the platform's legitimacy. Over the next year, his involvement deepened as he transferred a total of Rs1 crore, including funds from his wife's accounts, to various bank accounts and digital payment methods provided by the operators.

However, the scheme's true nature became apparent when the victim attempted to withdraw substantial winnings. His access was abruptly blocked, and he was redirected to a series of allied websites, such as 'BetInExchange247' and 'FunInMatch 360', under the guise of recovering his losses. Each time a website was shut down, the fraudsters seamlessly moved their operations to new mirror domains, trapping unsuspecting victims in an endless cycle of deception.

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have registered a case under various sections of the Information Technology Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Telangana Gaming Act. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the sophistication of online scams and the need for heightened vigilance in the digital realm.
