Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s political future has become a hot topic, especially following a recent Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting. The CEC has discussed 49 seats, clearing 34 of them and sending 15 for further review. While the list of candidates is expected to be finalized in the next few days, clarity on Phogat's political debut is anticipated soon.

Phogat, along with fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia, recently met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, fueling speculation that the wrestlers could be fielded by Congress in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. This move would place them among a notable group of sportspersons who have transitioned into politics, including Navjot Singh Sidhu and Gautam Gambhir.

Despite the swirling rumors, Phogat has maintained a focus on her current priorities. During a visit to a farmers' protest site at the Shambhu border, she declined to discuss her potential political career, emphasizing her commitment to farmer welfare. Phogat stated, “I don’t want to talk about it. My focus is on the welfare of farmers, not on the elections.” As Haryana prepares for its legislative assembly elections on October 1, Phogat’s next steps remain a point of keen interest.
