Hyderabad Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly committing chain snatching to fund his online gaming addiction. The accused, identified as Mohammed Salman Pasha, was taken into custody by the Commissioner’s Task Force.
According to police, Salman Pasha was facing financial difficulties due to family issues and low income. During this time, he developed an addiction to online gaming, particularly betting-based games. To manage his expenses and continue playing, he reportedly turned to criminal activities.
On February 8, near Abids, the accused allegedly targeted a woman who was walking alone and snatched her gold chain before fleeing on a motorcycle. The victim, a 25-year-old staff nurse, later filed a complaint with the police.
Based on credible information, police tracked and arrested the accused. They recovered a 17-gram gold chain, a Suzuki Gixxer motorcycle, a mobile phone, and ₹33,000 in cash.
Police have handed over the accused and seized items to the local station for further investigation and legal action.
