In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Hyderabad City Police honoured 1,446 personnel with the newly introduced ‘Extra Mile’ Awards and ‘Good Work Done’ rewards. The ceremony was led by Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).
The awards were given in recognition of the dedication, performance, and commitment shown by police personnel in the line of duty. Addressing the gathering, Sajjanar emphasized that policing is not just a profession but a social responsibility. He encouraged officers to go beyond routine duties and focus on accountability, innovation, and humane behavior while dealing with the public.
He highlighted that building public trust is equally important as completing tasks, and that true success lies in providing confidence and support to victims. The ‘Extra Mile’ initiative aims to identify and reward personnel who deliver exceptional service beyond their assigned roles.
The commissioner also announced that such recognition programs will continue regularly, with monthly awards at the zonal level. He appreciated the collective efforts of all ranks, from Home Guards to senior officers, in maintaining law and order in the city.
