Part-Time Job Fraud Tops Cyberabad Crime in 2025

Cybercrime remained the biggest contributor to overall crime in Cyberabad in 2025, with part-time job fraud emerging as the most common category. According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, a total of 37,243 cases were registered in 2025, showing a slight decrease compared to the previous year.

Out of these, 7,636 cases were related to cybercrime. Although this marked a significant drop in the number of cases, the financial impact remained high. People lost around ₹404.61 crore to cyber frauds during the year. However, police efforts helped prevent further losses, securing over ₹54 crore and refunding nearly ₹20 crore to victims.

Among different types of cyber frauds, part-time job scams topped the list with over 2,000 cases, followed by trading fraud and smishing (SMS-based scams). Notably, cases of digital arrest fraud saw a sharp decline.

Apart from cybercrime, property-related offences and crimes against individuals also saw a slight increase. Officials stated that while enforcement actions continue, public awareness and caution are key to preventing such frauds.
