In a significant blow to transnational drug trafficking, a joint operation by Delhi and Telangana authorities has dismantled a sprawling African drug cartel, seizing narcotics worth a staggering Rs 12 crore. This coordinated effort, spanning multiple locations in Delhi-NCR, highlights the success of inter-state collaboration in combating organized crime.

The operation, led by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB), resulted in the arrest of several key cartel members. Among them, Ugandan national Zainab Kyobutungi, a suspected major supplier, was apprehended in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, with a substantial quantity of cocaine and MDMA. The police also nabbed Nigerian national Bekki, a prominent distributor, in Sant Garh, Tilak Nagar, recovering thousands of MDMA pills and cocaine. These arrests were pivotal in unraveling the cartel's network.

The raids also exposed the cartel's sophisticated infrastructure. Police detained 30 foreign nationals, both men and women, overstaying illegally, and arrested several Indian facilitators who managed the cartel's finances and communication, even providing SIM cards under proxy credentials to maintain anonymity. The operation's success is evident in the recovery of a diverse range of narcotics, including cocaine, MDMA, and heroin, from locations like Mehrauli, Nilothi, and Greater Noida.

"This operation demonstrates our commitment to eradicating organized crime from the national capital region," said Jt. Commissioner, Crime Branch, Surender Kumar.
