In a significant drug enforcement operation, Telangana's elite police force, the EAGLE, has intercepted a massive 401 kg of Ganja, valued at a staggering Rs 2 crores. This seizure, which took place near the iconic Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, has exposed a sophisticated cross-country drug trafficking network.
The operation, a joint effort between the Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station and the Regional Narcotics Control Cell, Khammam Wing, led to the arrest of three transporters from Rajasthan. The accused, Chotu Narayana Lal Naik, Pushkar Raj Naik, and Kishan Lal Nayak, were transporting the contraband from Visakhapatnam to Rajasthan, concealed within a seemingly innocuous load of coconuts. This clever disguise highlights the ingenuity of the traffickers and the challenges faced by law enforcement in detecting such well-planned operations.
The investigation revealed a complex web of suppliers and transporters. Om Bishnoi, a known figure in Rajasthan's drug scene, sourced the Ganja from Sridhar in Rajamundry. Bishnoi's imprisonment presented an opportunity for Chotu Narayana Lal Naik to negotiate directly with Sridhar, purchasing a substantial 400 kilograms of Ganja. Naik's plan was to sell this to Ashu in Bikaner at a significant markup, showcasing the lucrative nature of the illegal drug trade.
The successful bust underscores the importance of inter-state cooperation in combating drug trafficking. With the three main transporters in custody, the police are now focusing on apprehending the remaining accused, Sridhar, Ashu, and Parameshwar, who remain at large. This operation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and the need for sustained vigilance and collaboration across state lines.
