Adivasi Martyrs Remembered: Tribute and Justice Demanded

In a powerful display of remembrance and solidarity, hundreds of Adivasis and political leaders gathered in Adilabad to commemorate the 45th Indravelli Martyrs Memorial Day. The event, held on Monday, served as a poignant reminder of the tragic Indravelli police firing on April 20, 1981, and the ongoing struggle for recognition and justice. The crowd, united in their cause, demanded the identification of all victims to ensure their families receive the government support they deserve.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh, Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi, and Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, who addressed the gathering. Bojju assured the crowd of the government's dedication to Adivasi welfare and promised support for families not yet officially acknowledged. He revealed that 13 Adivasi martyrs have been recognized, and their families have received benefits such as housing, agricultural land, and vehicles worth 10 lakh. This acknowledgment of the martyrs' sacrifice and the government's response was a central theme of the event.

The memorial day also became a platform for community concerns. MLA Laxmi announced the lifting of restrictions at the Indravelli martyrs memorial and vowed to prioritize Adivasi development. Former MP Soyam Bapu Rao added that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had initiated the tradition of paying tributes to the martyrs in 2021 and would continue this gesture by visiting Heerapur village in May. The event concluded with a sense of both reflection and determination, as the Adivasi community and leaders united in their call for justice and improved welfare.
