The recent remarks by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya and other NDA allies have sparked a strong response from Telangana's Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. In a letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Prabhakar urged restraint, emphasizing the need for unity among Telugu-speaking people. Prabhakar's letter, which also extended birthday wishes to Naidu, highlighted the constitutional validity of Telangana's creation in 2014. The minister took issue with Surya's comparison of the states' bifurcation to the partition of India and Pakistan, calling it misleading and inappropriate. He requested that such comments be removed from parliamentary records and appealed to Naidu to intervene by writing to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Furthermore, Prabhakar expressed concern over the remarks made by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and even attributed comments to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he believes have hurt the sentiments of Telangana's people. He reminded the public of the peaceful and principled Telangana movement, rooted in Gandhian philosophy, and the sacrifices made for statehood. The minister stressed that the bifurcation was a constitutional process led by Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh, resulting in two states with distinct identities and cordial relations.

In a call for unity, Prabhakar urged Telugu-speaking people to respect each other's identities and move forward cooperatively. He warned that divisive statements could harm the harmony between the states and serve no constructive purpose. With this appeal, Prabhakar aims to foster a sense of unity and respect, ensuring that the past remains a foundation for a shared future.
