State CET Cell Investigates Illegal Admissions
The Maharashtra State CET Cell has launched a crackdown on irregular admissions to professional courses at both degree and postgraduate levels. Following complaints about violations of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), inspections have been ordered for technical institutes. Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) is among those under investigation after Yuva Sena joint secretary Kalpesh Yadav raised concerns about students being admitted without completing CAP rounds. The State CET Cell has clarified that any illegal admissions discovered during the inspections will be canceled, increasing pressure on institutions to comply with regulations. CET Commissioner Dilip Sardesai emphasized the importance of adherence to CAP rules, highlighting that the responsibility for monitoring admissions lies with the Directorate of Technical Education.
MHT-CET Exam Faces Controversy
The MHT-CET exam, responsible for admissions into engineering and professional courses in Maharashtra, has also faced scrutiny. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray recently questioned the transparency of the exam's percentile-based results, sparking debate. Authorities have assured that all concerns raised by students are being addressed, promising transparency in the evaluation process.
This surge in regulatory scrutiny has put Maharashtra’s technical education system under the spotlight, as both admission processes and exam conduct are being closely monitored to ensure fairness.
