Hyderabad Congress Accuses AIMIM of 'Manusmriti' Politics

Hyderabad's political arena is witnessing a heated exchange as the Congress party takes aim at the influential Owaisi brothers of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). In a bold statement, Hyderabad district Congress president Syed Khalid Saifullah accused the Owaisi family of practicing a brand of politics akin to the ancient text, 'Manusmriti'. This accusation is particularly striking as it draws a parallel between modern-day politics and a centuries-old text known for its hierarchical and discriminatory principles.

Speaking at a gathering on Ambedkar Jyanti, Saifullah recalled a controversial remark by the late AIMIM leader, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, suggesting that power is a family heirloom. He argued that this sentiment continues to resonate with the current AIMIM leaders, Asaduddin and Akbaruddin Owaisi, who, he claims, perpetuate a political narrative of invincibility. Saifullah's critique is twofold: he believes the Owaisi brothers' dominance undermines the constitutional values of equality, justice, and fraternity, and he draws a parallel between their politics and the Manusmriti, where power is concentrated among a select few.

The Congress leader further invoked the spirit of B.R. Ambedkar's Mahad Satyagraha of 1927, where Ambedkar publicly burned the Manusmriti to protest against social inequality. Saifullah urged the public to reject such 'arrogant' political ideologies and embrace the Congress party's vision of inclusive governance. He emphasized that Ambedkar's struggle was not confined to caste discrimination but extended to challenging any form of oppression, including family-dominated political systems.
