Mandhana Shines as India Clinch Tri-Series Final with Record-Breaking Stats

India’s dominant victory over Sri Lanka in the tri-series final in Colombo not only secured the title but also brought with it a host of record-breaking achievements in women's One Day Internationals (ODIs). The standout performer was Smriti Mandhana, whose century powered India to a formidable total and added another milestone to her illustrious career.

India posted 342 for 7, the highest-ever total in women's ODIs on Sri Lankan soil, surpassing their own 337 for 9 against South Africa just a week earlier. This high-scoring final marked the fourth instance of a 300-plus total in Sri Lanka during the tri-series, highlighting the batting dominance on display throughout the tournament.

India's latest triumph brings their record in women's ODI finals to 7 wins out of 9, placing them second only to Australia, who have won 8 out of 11 finals. Notably, this total is also the second-highest in a knockout match in women's ODIs, trailing only Australia's 356 for 5 against England in the 2022 World Cup final.

Smriti Mandhana’s 116 was her 11th ODI century, making her the third-highest century scorer in women’s ODIs, behind Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13). It was also her first hundred in Sri Lanka, making the island nation the sixth different country where she has reached three figures in the format. Her score is now the third-highest individual total in a women’s ODI final.

Mandhana and Pratika Rawal's opening partnership has also been exceptional in 2025, recording seven 50+ partnerships in just eight matches. This equals the record set by Belinda Clark and Lisa Keightley in 2000 for the most by an opening pair in a calendar year.

With four 300-plus totals already in 2025, India have equaled New Zealand's record from 2018 for the most such totals in a single calendar year. As the team continues to build momentum, these achievements signal a bright and record-setting future for Indian women's cricket.
