NCW chief Rekha Sharma expresses concern over Misri's daughter trolling; calls for decency

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has condemned the online trolling of diplomat Flight Lieutenant (FL) Vikram Misri's daughter and called for decency and due process to be observed.

This comes after Misri, the former Indian Ambassador to China, and his wife, Neeta Misri, filed a police complaint in Delhi against unknown persons for allegedly trolling their daughter.

In a statement, NCW chief Rekha Sharma said, "The NCW condemns the trolling of Misri's daughter and expresses serious concern over the abuse and trolling of women and girls on social media platforms." She further added, "The commission urges the authorities to take action against malicious and unethical trolling and to ensure safety and security on the internet for women and girls."

The Misri family has also received support from veteran diplomat Nirupama Menon Rao, senior politicians Asaduddin Owaisi, Akhilesh Yadav, and many others. They have expressed their disgust via Twitter and urged to bring the culprits to book.

Rao, a former Ambassador to the US, tweeted, "The Misri family has been very generous in not revealing the identity of those who targeted their daughter. I hope the identity of these cowards is revealed soon and they are brought to justice."

Senior politician Asaduddin Owaisi said, "What happens to any person, anywhere in the country or the world, affects us all. We are all stakeholders in peace, progress, and civilization. Therefore, what happens to Misri's daughter is of concern to all of us."

This incident once again highlights the plight of many Indians who have to deal with cyberbullying, intimidation, and trolling on social media platforms.

The Misri family has asked for privacy and wishes to put this matter behind them.

For now, the investigation is ongoing, and the Delhi Police will take appropriate action based on the evidence and findings of the investigation.
