Over 30 passengers, mostly devotees from Tamil Nadu, were injured in an APSRTC bus accident on Sunday night. The bus, which was arriving from Tirumala, met with the accident near Agarala in the Chandragiri mandal of Tirupati. The passengers were residents of various districts of Tamil Nadu and were traveling back from Tirumala.
The bus accident on the Tirupati-Chennai highway resulted in quite a few serious injuries. As per reports, the driver of the bus attempted to avoid a lorry involved in an earlier collision, causing the bus to skid and hit a tree.
The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. Authorities have rushed to the spot to offer assistance and conduct relief operations.
This is not the first time that devotees arriving from other states have met with such horrific accidents. Just last month, a similar accident took place, injuring over 20 passengers who were returning after visiting the famed Srikalahasteeswara Swamy temple in Sri Kalahasti, Andhra Pradesh.
As per reports, the bus, which was traveling from Tirupati, collided with a truck on the national highway nearly 60 km from Chennai.
These incidents highlight urgent needs for proactive measures to ensure passenger safety on state highways, especially in the case of pilgrimage travel.
