Rail Over Bridge Work Restarted in Udupi After MP's Intervention

Railway authorities in Udupi have begun pushing the steel bridge structure for the Indrali Road Over Bridge (ROB) after a long delay following a representation from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Vinay Kumar Sorake to the Railway Minister. The ROB work had been stalled for over four months following a delay in the statutory inspection of the bridge structure by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO).

The RDSO had conducted the inspection in April last week, following which the Railway authorities resumed the work on the ROB structure. Speaking to the media, Mr. Sorake said he had sent a letter of support (SoS) to the Railway Minister to expedite the Indrali ROB work, as the bridge connects two national highways and is vital for connecting the southern coast with the Malnad region. He also stated that he would continue to push for the early completion of the project.

The MP expressed disappointment that the ROB work had been stalled for so long despite the RDSO inspection being completed in less than a day. He hoped that the Railways would complete the work on the ROB without any further delays. The Indrali ROB connects National Highway 169 (NH-169) and National Highway 75 (NH-75) and is a critical link between the coastal region and the Malnad region, including Chikkamagaluru and Shimoga districts.

The completion of the project is expected to provide immense relief to the locals who have long depended on the precarious existing bridge. timely completion of the ROB work.
