Former Telangana minister alleges conspiracy to mortgage TGIIC lands for loans, accuses govt of attempting to 'dilute' its ownership

The Telangana government is facing fresh allegations of corruption and fraud, with former Minister and current BRS leader Kavitha alleging a conspiracy to mortgage 1.75 lakh acres of land owned by the Telangana GIIC (TGIIC).

Kavitha alleges that the government issued orders to change the status of TGIIC from a private company to a public limited company to allow it to list on the stock exchange. The move would potentially lead to the dilution of the government's ownership and leave the land vulnerable to being used as collateral for loans.

The BRS leader accused the government of attempting to take control of the land, which was allocated for the development of the backward regions of Telangana, to raise loans and engage in corrupt practices.

All the shares belonging to the government and GIIC employees Welfare Fund Trust will be transferred to the public sector. The government will take necessary steps to protect the interests of the shareholders and the company," stated a government official.
