Severe monsoon rains and flooding in Gujarat have claimed at least 28 lives over the past three days, with some victims drowning and others being struck by falling trees, according to government officials. The weather department has issued a warning for more heavy rainfall expected on Thursday in the western coastal state. Rivers have overflowed, forcing over 30,000 people to evacuate their homes. The state government reported late Wednesday that 13 fatalities were due to drowning, while the remaining deaths were caused by house collapses or falling trees.
