PBKS's luck seems to be dwindling even with the commencement of the second half of the IPL 2022 season as the team welcomes no new players due to injury concerns. Whereas, SRH welcomes back their key player David Cummins, which is a major boost to their squad.
David Warner's side has had a disappointing tournament, to say the least; they are currently lying at the bottom of the points table. However, there is a glimmer of hope for the team as key player Cummins might make it back to the field after recovering from his hamstring injury. The Australian bowling all-rounder had previously missed four games owing to personal reasons, and now, he is set to make his comeback against Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
"David Cummins is back with the team at practice. He has recovered from his hamstring injury. He is looking good, hopefully, he will be available for the Gujarat Titans game," said SRH assistant coach Simon Katich.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings seems to be losing luck at getting their injured players back for the second half of the season. The franchise was hoping to have Josh Inglis and Mitchell Stoinis back for the remainder of the IPL 2022. However, the management has admitted that the chances of Inglis and Stoinis playing are very less as the injury break is going to be a bit longer than expected.
"Unfortunately, it doesn't look good for Inglis and Stoinis to play anytime soon. Inglis's injury is slightly worse; he had a PCL injury, and now there is a meniscus concern as well, so his recovery is going to be a bit long. Stoinis' case was more complicated; his injury was severe, and he had to undergo surgery. He started walking a few days back, but it's going to be a while before he is able to play again," said the official source aware of the development.
The return of Cummins is certainly a boost for SRH, but they still have a long way to go this season. On the other hand, PBKS will probably have to wait longer than expected to see their injured players make their comebacks and turn things around for them this season.
