Local politicians rally behind people's cause, urge governance to act on long-pending eastward extension of M.G. Road-Pullepady-Thammanam-Chakkaraparambu corridor
Thrikkakara MLA Aroor Rajiv Kumar recently lodged a demand for funds allocation to develop the Chakkaraparambu-Infopark road. This long-overdue eastward extension would connect the M.G. RoadPullepadyThammanamChakkaraparambu road via Vennala, Palachuvadu, Kalachal, Thuthiyoor, and SeaportAirport Road.
This demand is supported by local citizens and IT professionals who regularly commute to Infopark. In a nutshell, the existing road infrastructure lacks the capacity to accommodate the heavy traffic flow, causing long bottlenecks and frustrating daily travel.
Currently, the only way to reach Infopark is via the Vallarpadom Bridge and Seaport-Airport Road, which is technically classified as a state highway. During peak hours, this 2-lane highway becomes a cause of lengthy traffic jams for thousands of commuters.
According to estimates, over 5000 IT professionals alone travel daily from localities like Pongumoodu, Kakkanad Town, and Kunnumpuram via M.G. Road-Pullepady-Thammanam-Chakkaraparambu, necessitating this demand for a direct link to Infopark.
Rajiv Kumar stated that the Chakkaraparambu-Infopark road project had been pending for almost a decade now, but the current scenario warrants an urgent need for this project, in consideration of the immense hardship faced by thousands of commuters. He urged the authorities to undertake an immediate study on the project feasibility and expeditious allocation of funds for development.
