Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has alleged that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government had covered up the links between the party and the accused in the Pollachi sexual assault case. He promised that the DMK government would launch a thorough investigation into the case and ensure that justice is served.
Stalin made the statement while reacting to the Pollachi sexual assault case, where a woman lodged a complaint with the local police alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a group of men, who were allegedly AIADMK functionaries and supporters.
Stalin said that the previous AIADMK government had shielded the accused and tried to protect them. "The criminal elements involved in the case were freely moving with AIADMK leaders, who were providing them with protection," Stalin claimed.
When asked about the Kodanad dacoity-cum-murder case, Mr. Stalin said the persons responsible for that would also be punished.
"We will not spare anyone involved in the Pollachi sexual assault case or the Kodanad robbery case, regardless of their political affiliations or social status," he added.
The CM's statement has brought attention to the issue and raised questions about the involvement of the previous administration in the case.
It remains to be seen how the DMK government's investigation unfolds and what impact it will have on the AIADMK party.
