Delhi Court asks for understanding from politician over missed deadlines in defamation case
Delhi Court Judge, Vivek Aggarwal, while dismissing a plea for bail placed on Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader, Sanjay Singh, for making alleged defamatory remarks against Bansuri Swaraj, has given the said politician one last chance to file his reply in the case.
The court criticized Singh for failing to file his reply despite repeated reminders, stating that it is understandable that political figures such as himself lead hectic lives but that should not result in the court-appointed deadlines being missed.
Thus, the court has given Singh a week to file his reply to the defamation case, a decision which has been applauded by Swaraj who stated that it was a victory for democracy and justice.
This development comes after Singh had moved the court seeking bail earlier this week, claiming that the case, filed before the Punjab court, was an attempt to stifle his political career as the remarks, made during a rally, were made in the heat of the moment and thus, were not premeditated.
