"A Violation Of The Principle Of Federalism": MK Stalin On President's Letter To Supreme Court

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has responded sharply to President Droupadi Murmu's letter to the Supreme Court, seeking clarity on a judgment that set a deadline for the President and Governors to clear Bills passed by the legislature.

Stalin, whose party staged a walkout in the Tamil Nadu Assembly earlier this week in protest, claimed that the President's move violated the principle of federalism and amounted to a "desperate attempt to undermine" state legislatures.

He further added that the President, as the custodian of the Constitution, should instead "protect the interests of the states" and ensure that their autonomy was not compromised.

This development comes after the Supreme Court issued a ruling stating that Presidents and Governors cannot sit on laws indefinitely, giving them a timeframe to approve or reject Bills passed by state legislatures.

Only time will tell what ramifications the President's letter will have and if other politicians will voice their opinions on this matter.
